Baby Names
Privacy Policy
Baby Names helps you find a first name that sounds good with your family name. It works without accounts, your answers stay on your phone, and the only thing the app sends is anonymous usage statistics. This policy explains what that means in practice.

1. Who we are
Baby Names (“Baby Names”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is operated by TC ADVANCED ANALITIQ SRL, a company registered in Romania (registration number J32/28/2021, CUI 43546961), with its registered office in Sibiu, Romania.
For any privacy question, contact us at cristian@tomeapps.com.
2. The short version
- No account. You never sign up or log in.
- Your answers stay on your phone. The name database ships inside the app and every suggestion is calculated on your phone. Your family name, the first names you type, your sibling's name and your favorites are never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Anonymous usage statistics only. The app sends anonymous statistics about how it is used to Mixpanel, so we can understand and improve it. It contains no advertising SDKs, shows no third-party ads, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and never uses your device's advertising identifier.
3. What is stored on your phone
To let you pick up where you left off, the app saves on your device:
- your answers to the questions (family name, country, sex, style, any first name you already chose, a sibling's name if you entered one);
- the names suggested for each search, which ones you skipped and which ones you loved;
- a small preference model learned from your swipes, used only to reorder suggestions;
- whether and when the app last asked you to rate it.
This data never leaves your phone through the app, apart from the anonymous usage statistics described in the next section. It is included in your device backups (iCloud or Google) if you have them turned on, under Apple's or Google's terms. You can delete a search from the home screen (Edit), remove favorites one by one, or delete everything by uninstalling the app.
4. Anonymous usage statistics
To see which features are used and where the app can be better, the app sends anonymous usage events to Mixpanel, Inc., which stores them on servers in the United States. Mixpanel acts as our processor under a data processing agreement and may only use this data to provide its service to us.
What is sent:
- what you do in the app: completing a question of the search, a batch of names being generated, swiping a name (love or pass), undoing a swipe, listening to a name, sharing a name or your list (and how many names), opening your favorites, removing a favorite, loving a skipped name, resuming or deleting a saved search, seeing the Hushly card or screen, tapping “Get Hushly” and how long the Hushly screen stayed open, and your answer to “Enjoying the app?”;
- when the app is opened for the first time, app sessions and app updates (recorded automatically by Mixpanel);
- the settings of a search: country, sex (girl, boy or both), style, how many first names, local or international reach, and only yes or no for whether you entered a sibling or already chose a name;
- the first names suggested by the app (from its own database) that you swiped, with their match percentage, plus counts and durations;
- technical details: a random identifier created when the app is installed, the app version, device model, operating system version, app language and your phone's region setting.
What is never sent: your family name, the first names you type yourself, your sibling's name or your device's advertising identifier (IDFA or Android advertising ID). IP-based geolocation is turned off.
The random identifier is not linked to your name, email address or any account, because the app has none. Uninstalling the app resets it. We do not use these statistics to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use them for advertising.
We process these statistics on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Transfers to the United States rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses. We keep the statistics only for as long as they are useful for improving the app. See also Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.
5. Features that use your phone's own services
- Listen. Names are read aloud with your phone's built-in text-to-speech voices. Depending on your device settings, the operating system may process that text as described in Apple's or Google's privacy policy.
- Share. When you share a name or your shortlist, the app creates an image on your phone and opens the system share sheet. Only you decide where it goes; we never see it.
- Rate the app. If you choose to rate Baby Names, the rating is handled by the App Store or Google Play.
- Hushly. The home screen shows a card for Hushly, our own baby tracker app. This is our own promotion, not a third-party ad. Tapping it opens Hushly's page on the App Store or Google Play. What happens in the store is covered by Apple's or Google's policies, and Hushly has its own privacy policy.
6. Information collected by app stores
Apple and Google may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics about downloads, usage and crashes (for example, through App Store Connect or Google Play Console), according to your device's sharing settings. These reports do not identify you and do not include anything you type in the app.
7. Children
Baby Names is meant for adults choosing a name. It is not directed at children. Apart from the anonymous usage statistics described above, we do not collect information from anyone, of any age.
8. Your rights
We do not hold any data that identifies you. Everything you type is on your phone and under your control, as described above. The usage statistics are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you, so we cannot pick out your records to access, correct or delete them. You can reset the random identifier at any time by uninstalling the app.
If you want to object to the usage statistics or have a question or concern, write to us at cristian@tomeapps.com. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in Romania this is the ANSPDCP.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app ever starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date above before that version is released. See also our Terms & Conditions.
